Heart to Heart Luncheon
Boyer & Corporon Wealth Management sponsored a table at the 18th Annual Heart to Heart Luncheon held on Wednesday, April 22nd. The women of BCWM attended the annual event held at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center in Downtown Kansas City. The luncheon is one of the metro area’s largest and most inspiring events celebrating women and families. The Women’s Employment Network is a nonprofit organization in Kansas City dedicated to empowering women to achieve economic self-sufficiency for themselves and their families through employment preparation training, resources and support services.

Mindy attended Right Management’s Emerging Leaders Program at The Central Exchange in Kansas City, MO
Mindy attended The Central Exchange’s highly-regarded Emerging Leaders Program hosted by Right Management. The program seeks to develop leaders by building on individual strengths in a team-based, experiential learning environment. The course began with leadership assessments followed by one-on-one meetings to create a customized plan of action. Self-awareness was a core focus as it forms a critical component of future development. Later sessions focused on specific skill sets, including strategies designed to be used in a participant’s own work environment. Mindy enjoyed interacting with other female leaders and discussed various operational issues that arise at B&C Wealth Management. The course was both relevant and informative and will allow Mindy and her peers to become more effective, well-rounded leaders in their local business communities.

2009 Central Exchange Women’s Lyceum
Laura attended the 2009 Central Exchange Women’s Lyceum, an all-day event focused on helping women develop their leadership capabilities. Key-note speakers included Daryn Kagan, creator of Darynkagan.com and former CNN Anchor and Wendy Kopp, founder and CEO of teach for America. Seminars Laura attended included “Creating and Maintaining a Strategic Network”, “Negotiating What Matters”, “Leading Your Team to the Top”, and “A Guide to the Future.”

Jay, Emily and Laura attended Lunch & Learn event hosted by Young Professionals of Overland Park (YPOP)
Jay, Laura and Emily attended the first seminar held by Young Professionals entitled “The Local Housing Market and How it Affects You”. Presenters from INTRUST Bank and ReMax discussed the local market outlook and explained why economic factors are starting to create a more desirable backdrop for first-time home buyers and other market participants.

Cole and Laura attended FPA luncheon in Overland Park
Cole and Laura attended an FPA luncheon featuring guest speaker Ms. Stacey Janssen, J.D. The talk focused on Stacey’s core areas of expertise including Special Needs Trusts and Medicaid. Ms. Janssen provided an educational lecture which focused on protecting the assets of those with special needs or disabilities and assisting them is becoming pre-qualified for Medicaid.

Laura was selected to join the Young Professional Steering Committee of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, which strives to create mentoring and networking opportunities for young professionals who live and/ or work in Overland Park. The committee is primarily responsible for developing and launching future events that will benefit their expanding base of young professionals.

Rich, Mindy, Jay, Laura and Cole attended FPA Greater Kansas City Chapter luncheon in Overland Park
Five members of the BCWM team attended an FPA luncheon which featured Mr. Greg Valliere, Chief Political Strategist for the Washington Research Group. Mr. Valliere delivered an entertaining speech and discussed a broad range of issues including tax and regulatory changes, pending energy legislation and the threat of larger budget deficits. Note that FPA Greater Kansas City Chapter holds meetings each month on topical issues such as retirement planning, tax planning, investments, estate planning and practice management.
